Robotics Comes to Upper Elementary!
This week 6th grade teams are constructing a model of a “Riley rover” suitable for exploring an exoplanet. The rover will need to be tested extensively here on earth to make sure it can perform all the required tasks reliably. Students learned the basics of programming the robot to move and turn around and used math to calculate the circumference of the wheels to predict the distance traveled in a certain number of rotations. With a circumference of 7 inches, 3 rotations caused our model to travel 21 inches. If there’s an interest, stop by the upper elementary and ask a student for a demonstration!
