Another Amazing Week
Wow. As we wrap up another exciting week at HMS, I am continually amazed at our accomplishments and the many abilities of our children. This week began with a feature story on the news and ended with “Donuts with Dad”, which always captures our hearts. Seeing our dads so eagerly participating in their child’s education is such a joy and we really embrace the fact that we often have other family members here on this particular morning. Whether it’s a dad, mom, grandparent or a friend, the joy of the children showcasing their work to the special adult in their life truly can put tears in your eyes.
Other highlights of the week included an email from the Whole Kids Foundation/FoodCorp program (Whole Foods) that we won a $2,000 grant for our gardens. Finally, as we wrapped up the 2013 Annual Fund donations and begin the 2014 drive, it was a joy to share the news with Derek Kluz, our music director, that the purchase of the new Yamaha digital grand piano could be made. Finally, we also updated our technology plan with 10 new laptops and 2 touch screen monitors this week. The funds came from the November gardening dinner and will be a great asset to our elementary and middle school programs. There are so many great things happening at HMS and thankfully, no more snow for now. Although the staff truly enjoyed our thank you lunch for the “snow spend the night parties”, we are ready to take a break and sleep in our own beds.
