Teacher Appreciation Week May 14-18

Teacher Appreciation Week will take place May 14-18.  This is a wonderful opportunity to thank our teachers and staff for all of their time and energy spent educating our children this year.

Tuesday, May 15: Homemade Cards & Wish List Day; Students are encouraged to bring handmade cards for their teachers this day; Your class liaison will contact you soon with your teacher’s wish list.
Wednesday, May 16: Breakfast provided by the toddler and pre-school parents.  For more information or to volunteer, contact Brandi Israel at bb.bradberry@me.com.

2012 Art & Music Festival

3rd Annual Hilltop Art & Music Festival

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the event? 

Friday, April 20 from 4-6 p.m.

(*Rain/Inclement Weather Date is Friday, April 27 from 4-6 p.m.)

Where will it take place? 

At Hilltop Montessori School

Will my child participate in a musical performance? 

All students except toddlers will perform. The preschool/kindergarten will perform as a group at the beginning of the event, under the direction of Ms. Marcia. There will be multiple elementary performances by class, under the direction of Mr. Derek. The toddlers will not have a musical performance, but their art will be featured and for sale, so the event is for everyone!  Stay tuned for a detailed schedule with times of the various musical performances.

Will my child’s art be for sale?

Yes, the children’s individual art pieces will be for sale for $30 each.  All proceeds from the art sale will directly benefit the Art & Music programs at Hilltop.  (The PTO considers the festival to be a major spring fundraising event in lieu of doing other sales items for PTO fundraising purposes.)  Donations are also welcome!

Will there be food? 

Yes. There will be an ongoing free pizza dinner outside behind the school beginning at 4:30 p.m. (after the preschool/kindergarten performance).

Can I invite grandparents or other family members? 

Yes!  Everyone is welcome to attend.

Can I help out? 

Yes!  We need volunteers for several aspects of our event.  If you would like to volunteer or have any questions, please contact Sally Dollar, PTO President at sallydollar1@gmail.com or any other PTO officer.

“Donations From the Heart” Drive: Feb. 13-17

We are kicking off Hilltop PTO’s “Donations From The Heart Drive” on Monday, February 13th.  Below is a breakdown of items being collected:
1. Food Drive for United Way Community Food Bank
Most needed items are:
Meats: Canned meat (spam, ham, beef stew, chicken)
Dairy: Evaporated milk, canned cheese, powdered milk, shelf stable milk
Breads & Cereals: Baking mix, muffin mix, dry cereal, oatmeal, grits, rice, pasta, cornmeal, sugar, flour
Fruits & Vegetables: Canned fruit, canned fruit juices, canned vegetables, soups, dried fruits
Miscellaneous: Macaroni & cheese, spaghetti sauces, boxed juice, jams and jellies
Household: Paper towels, toilet paper, plates, napkins, cups, plastic utensils, bar soap, dishwashing soap, laundry detergent, any paper, cleaning, or hygiene item
2. Clothing Drive for The Red Cross
New or gently used baby, children and adult clothing; Every year there is demand for winter items like jackets, coats, scarves, gloves and boots.
3. Coin Drive for The Red Cross
Bring in all your unwanted loose change and help The Red Cross help families across Alabama.
You can drop off your items in the carpool line!
We can’t mention drive without addressing carpool. Have no fear, there will be helpers to bring your donations from the car into the lobby where we will have all the collection bins.

Spring 2012 PTO Meeting Dates

PTO meetings take place on the second Tuesday of each month at 8:45 a.m. in the multi-purpose room.  All parents are invited to attend!  Our spring 2012 meeting dates are as follows:
