Montessori Toddler Curriculum
Hilltop's Toddler Curriculum includes Practical Life, Cognitive Skills, Motor Skills, Language Skills, Math Skills, Sensorial Skills, Science, Geography, Art, and Sign Language.
Language Skills
Language activities are developing at a rapid rate during the Toddler years. Sandpaper letters help the child learn the phonetics of the alphabet. Naming cards and matching introduce foundations for alphabet and language. Stories, finger plays, singing, and spontaneous conversation time encourage both social and language skills.
Specific Objectives for Toddler Language Skills

1.30 Names people in environment: teachers/classmates
1.40 Names objects in classroom
2.00 Repeats simple songs and finger plays
3.00 Uses words to express needs and wants
4.00 Displays body language
5.00 Understands and follows simple directions (1-2 commands)
6.00 Imitates words and actions
7.00 Combines words toward simple sentences
8.00 Uses personal pronouns (me, he, she)
9.00 Uses “all gone, please, thank you, why, what, where” appropriately
10.0 Recognizes phonic sounds
11.0 Understands prepositions: up, over, under, etc.
12.0 Moveable alphabet
13.0 Listens to read-a-loud activities and begins word/picture association
14.0 Spontaneously explores books for pleasure
