Montessori Toddler Curriculum

Hilltop's Toddler Curriculum includes Practical Life, Cognitive Skills, Motor Skills, Language Skills, Math Skills, Sensorial Skills, Science, Geography, Art, and Sign Language.

Practical Life
Practical Life activities encourage the child to take care of the environment with size appropriate tools.  The children care for the outside environment through gardening activities and the inside environment through dusting, mopping, sweeping, and washing dishes.  Our Toddlers are also directed to take care of themselves by washing hands, hanging up clothing, managing personal items, and toileting.

Specific Objectives for Toddler Practical Life
1.00 Respect for Environment
    
1.10 Care of outdoor environment
     1.20 Care of indoor materials: dish washing, sweeping, mopping, dusting
     1.30 Cleans up spills: towels/sponge
     1.40 Pushes chair under table
     1.50 Returns work to shelf

2.00 Respect for Self

     2.10 Washes/dries hands
     2.20 Drinks from cup without spillage
     2.30 Uses fork/spoon without spillage
     2.40 Dresses self
     2.50 Indicates when clothes are soiled
     2.60 Toilets with minimal assistance
     2.70 Identifies body parts: arm, leg, foot, head, hand, eyes, ears, nose
     2.80 Shows emotion and affection
     2.90 Asks for help

     2.91 Recognizes gender and self/ responds to image in mirror

3.00 Respect for Others

     3.10 Grace, courtesy, manners
